Company History
Born and bred in America's heartland, the Kansas-based company began in 1939 amid the financial ruin of the Great Depression. Albert J. "Al" Boyer founded the Process Solvent Company - later abbreviated PROSOCO - in the garage of his used-car dealership. His first products were huge successes because they solved longstanding problems for car owners - such as mineral deposit buildup in radiators.
Though PROSOCO's thrust changed from the automotive industry to construction in the mid-50s, the company always stayed true to its problem-solving tradition.
PROSOCO was the first company to develop cleaners specifically for new brick construction. Replacing dangerous, inefficient muriatic acid, PROSOCO products set the cleaning standard still in place today for construction professionals.
The construction industry called on PROSOCO to solve the problem of restoration cleaning in 1959. Restoration work demanded entirely new products - cleaners with the power to strip away decades of embedded grime, without harming the delicate masonry surface.
That first restoration work on Denver's 14-story Mountain States Telephone Building quickly led to a host of other prestigious cleaning projects. Today's list includes the Empire State Building, the U.S. Capitol, Grand Central Station, Carnegie Hall, and thousands of historic and landmark structures in this and other countries.
In the mid-60s, PROSOCO provided architects and builders with the power to protect the structures they built and restored. Like its new-construction and restoration cleaners, PROSOCO's line of long-lasting water, oil and salt-repellents is still in use today. Like the cleaners, PROSOCO's protective treatment line is constantly expanding and improving to meet the ever-increasing needs of the national and global construction industry.
Six decades after its birth, PROSOCO's "innovative solutions" are still answering the countless challenges of new construction and building restoration. From fighting graffiti to strengthening ancient masonry, from small towns to major cities, PROSOCO remains the first name and the last word in cleaning, protecting and maintaining concrete, brick and stone.
Now, through the Problem Solving Corporation, PROSOCO makes these remarkable products available to homeowners everywhere.
